HORIZONS: THE SEA IN PAINT

Every generation stands at the cliff edge and paints the water differently. Horizons brings Monet, Homer, Turner and Renoir into one long sea-facing room, two centuries of waves under changing light.

The hang follows the day itself: dawn fishing boats, noon cliffs crowded with walkers, dusk seas that swallow the horizon. Monet's Cliff Walk at Pourville anchors the noon wall, its two small figures dwarfed by spray and sky.

Benches face the largest canvases, and a soundscape of recorded shorelines runs softly beneath — the museum's quietest room, guards report, and its most photographed.
